The Outreach Commission seeks to help those in need both within and beyond our parish community. Whether the need is spiritual, emotional or monetary, there are multiple ministries to serve.
Blood Drive
This ministry organizes and sponsors the "Gift of Life".
Bridges Community Friends
This ministry helps low-income families who live at the Bridges Apartments (15915 Kuykhendahl): Services include student tutoring and homework help, computer lab/office/library volunteers, holiday parties for children.
Gabriel Project
Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, is a program developed to offer hope and aid to any woman facing a crisis pregnancy. When a woman comes to a Gabriel Parish, she will be provided with any help she may need to care for her unborn child.
Habitat for Humanity
This ministry of men, women and teens builds houses for the poor. Very skilled and minimally skilled persons are welcomed and needed.
Correctional Ministry
This ministry seeks men and women over 18 to provide pastoral care to those incarcerated in the jails in the diocese area. Volunteering include fellowship, bible study, R.I.C.A. programs as well as providing religious materials and educational supplies.
Mission Outreach Committee
The committee is entrusted with raising monies and the stewardship of that money for the teachers' salaries of Our Lady Of Guadalupe School in Chiche, Guatemala. The committee promotes parish support and mission awareness with events held during the year.
Jobs Ministry
Offers information on how to conduct a more effective job search, an instant network of people who can help in obtaining work, and access to hundreds of job listings.
Christmas Angels
Provides food and Christmas gifts to those who would not normally be able to afford it.
Information & Referral
The church has a comprehensive list of more than 5,000 services in the area, which means we can point you towards appropriate help when you don’t know where to find it.
Operation Rice Bowl
St. Ignatius participates in Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Lenten program geared towards facilitating global solidarity through prayer, fasting, almsgiving and learning about people in other cultures throughout the world.
Financial Assistance
Provides emergency help with rent and mortgage expenses for individuals in specific zip codes when funding is available.
NAM Inter-Faith Hospitality Network
Volunteers provide night meals and act as overnight hosts while families who have lost housing and support are staying at our partner church, Immanuel Church in Old Town Spring. We are their support while recovering from the loss of their home or housing.
Northwest Assistance Ministries Volunteers
A major corporate outreach ministry to which St. Ignatius Parish is heavily committed. NAM places volunteers in any of the 12 organized assistance programs helping the hungry, abused and needy of our area.
Sandwich Makers
Provides lunches to the hungry of Casa Juan Diego. For many of the recipients, it is their only meal for the day. Sandwiches are made by Sandwich makers in their homes on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday. Drivers then deliver them to Casa Juan Diego on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The commitments by Sandwich Makers or Drivers are approximately once a month
Sending Out Servants (S.O.S)
This ministry is a Catholic Lay Mission Outreach through which men, women and youth 16 and over, can have a profound one week cross-cultural experience with the Mayas who live in the mountains of Guatemala. There is a Home Team and a Travel Team.
