Your family can perform a service activity together. Below are a few suggestions:
Provide sandwiches for Case Juan Diego once a month through Sandwich Makers Ministry, serve or provide a food item for bereavement meals through the Bereavement Ministry, sign up to present the bread and wine during Mass through Gift Presenters Ministry, volunteer and train to be a Hospitality Minister during Mass, or say special prayers each day for the dying or those in need. There are many needs in our parish and surrounding community.
Participate in St. Ignatius' Lenten projects:
Helping our world - Catholic Relief Services' Rice Bowl project - an annual Lenten project focusing on awareness and food assistance for the world's poorest people. You can place your Lenten sacrifices in your CRS Rice Bowl distributed through the bulletin, or donate online at crsricebowl.org. All monetary donations go to Catholic agencies working to end hunger and poverty.
Give to your favorite local or national charities. As you sacrifice food and/or hobbies during this season of Lent, give the money not spent on those items to a charity.
Spring clean your closets, toys, and garages giving usable items to local charities such as 1960 Hope Center, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Northwest Assistance Ministries, Purple Heart, etc.
