Spring, TX - Catholic Charities CEO Cynthia Colbert will deliver the keynote address at the Third Annual Senior Care Conference hosted by St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday, April 30th.
Her talk, "The Dignity of Life and Caring for Our Seniors," reflects the theme and purpose of the conference, which is to empower seniors and their loved ones with the latest information on senior options.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet reputable professionals and organizations with solutions for their care giving needs at this free event. They can also choose from 15 workshops designed to teach and empower seniors in making decisions that affect their health and wellbeing.
Conference topics include understanding Medicare, when to intervene in the life of an elder who needs help and understanding types of dementia and the stages of Alzheimer’s, among many others.
Conference goers will have the opportunity to also learn about Church teachings when making difficult medical decisions for loved ones, as well as get hands on advice about preparing ethical advance directive documents that adhere to Catholic beliefs. Linda Krehmeier, pastoral associate for Evangelization and Formation at St. Ignatius, will speak on Catholic vigils, funerals and burials.
More than 25 exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions about home care services, assisted living communities, memory care, and elder care law from service providers located in the Spring area.
A "Virtual Dementia" tour will allow participants to experience what it's like to have dementia, leading to greater sensitivity and compassion in care giving.
