There is little "ordinary" about Ordinary Time. This season of the Church between Christmas and Lent and again between Pentecost and Advent, the Scriptures focus on the events of Jesus' life between His birth and his death and resurrection. It is a time when we reflect on the things Jesus lived and taught so that we might make our values and attitudes more like his.
Ordinary Time helps us find balance in our lives so that we can integrate some of the lessons and experiences we had during the times of great joy and new life at Christmas and Easter and the sadness and loss during Lent and Holy Week. We appreciate the stories of the parables and other stories that Jesus gave us about his life and miracles to encourage us and sustain us in our "ordinary" daily lives.
Families can participate in on-going service to their community during this time such as Sandwich Makers, taking food to someone who is sick, or helping an elderly neighbor.
